The trade register (RC) is the official registration that grants the right to carry out a commercial activity in Algeria. This guide covers registration with the CNRC, the RC extract (extrait RC), the Sijilcom platform and the online verification of a register via the RCE.
The trade register is the official registration that gives a natural or legal person the right to carry out a commercial activity in Algeria. It embodies the legal existence of the trader or company and conditions the steps that follow: opening a professional bank account, obtaining the NIF, invoicing, access to markets.
The register is kept and centralized by the National Trade Register Centre (CNRC), a public body under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade. The CNRC handles registration, amendments, deregistration and the publication of data on registered entities, both natural and legal persons.
The trade register extract (RC extract, extrait RC) is the document issued upon completion of registration. It carries the unique registration number, the identity of the trader or the company name, the address, the declared activity or activities and the legal form. It is the document that banks, administrations and partners require to prove the existence of the business.
Obtaining the trade register follows a well-marked path. The first building block is the reservation of the company name, which results in the negative certificate (certificat négatif). This step is carried out on the CNRC's Sijilcom platform and is detailed step by step on our page dedicated to the name reservation form (/formulaire-denomination-cnrc).
Next comes the assembly of the file. For a company, you need notarized articles of association, proof of registered office, identity documents, as well as publication in the BOAL and the deposit of the capital. The complete file is filed with the CNRC of the wilaya or via Sijilcom for registration. UpGrowth Connect can prepare and file this file on your behalf.
The full chronological detail of the whole path, from choosing the legal status to social security affiliation, is presented step by step on our page /etapes-creation-entreprise-algerie. For a natural person subject to the register (trader, craftsman carrying out a commercial activity), the path is lighter: no notarized articles of association or capital, but registration in the register remains required as soon as the activity is subject to it.
Upon filing a compliant file, the CNRC issues the RC extract bearing the registration number. Collection of the final extract takes place at the CNRC agency of the competent wilaya.
The CNRC's official platform, Sijilcom (sidjilcom.cnrc.dz), brings together the online services of the trade register. It offers the search for prior company names, the search in the traders' file, consultation of the activities nomenclature and access to the register's database. Access to detailed information requires the creation of an account.
Since 2014, the CNRC has included a secure code in the trade register extract: this is the Electronic Trade Register (RCE). This code makes it possible to authenticate an extract and verify its data online using the RCE reader module, from a device equipped with an image-capture function.
Online verification via the RCE covers specific elements: the trade register number, the name of the trader or the company name, the wilaya of registration and the status (active or deregistered). It is the reference tool for checking the authenticity of an extract that a partner presents to you.
Sijilcom also serves as the entry point for pre-registration and the filing of the registration file. Collection of the final extract, however, must still be carried out at the competent CNRC agency.
