Step-by-step path to create your company in Algeria: company name, notarized articles of association, BOAL, CNRC, NIF, CASNOS or CNAS registration. Documents, costs, and the traps to avoid at each stage.
Creating a company in Algeria follows a relatively well marked administrative path since Sijilcom and Jibayatic were digitalised. This guide breaks the process down into 7 chronological steps with the documents, the costs and the traps to avoid at each stage.
This step is the most strategic one, the right choice avoids a costly conversion later. Five main statuses exist in Algeria:
The negative certificate guarantees that the trade name you chose is not already taken. The procedure is online on sidjilcom.cnrc.dz: submit 3 to 5 names in order of preference, the CNRC validates within 1 to 2 working days.
Cost: 800 DZD. Validity: 6 months, renewable once.
Tip: also check the INAPI database in case the name you want is already a registered trademark, intellectual property prevails over the trade register.
The articles of association must be notarized for every company. Go to a notary with your negative certificate, the identity documents of the partners, and the draft corporate purpose.
Mandatory clauses in the articles: company name, legal form, registered office, purpose, duration, capital and its distribution between partners, management, terms for transferring shares, dissolution.
Cost through the UpGrowth Connect package: 30 000 DZD for 'Articles of association + BOAL' (fixed price, partner notary pre-validated by the CNRC). The drafting and signing time belongs to the notary and is set by no published text: we do not state it.
With the complete file (notarized articles, negative certificate, bank certificate, BOAL publication, identity documents, proof of registered office), file the registration application at the CNRC of your wilaya or through Sijilcom.
Décret exécutif n° 23-169 of 24 April 2023 (art. 9) requires the CNRC and the associated administrations to validate and confirm the registration request within three (3) days. That period belongs to the administration. The UpGrowth Connect package (268 610 DZD for a company with 12 months of domiciliation / 225 000 DZD for a natural person with 12 months) already includes the CNRC fees in the 'Register + stamp duty + company stamp' line. Result: an extract from the trade register (RC) carrying your unique identification number.
With your CNRC trade register, go to your tax office (DGI) to request the NIF (Numéro d'Identification Fiscale). Documents: trade register, articles of association, proof of registered office, manager's national ID card.
The NIF is not a separate step where the company is registered through the electronic company creation portal: article 10 of décret exécutif n° 23-169 provides that, once the registration is confirmed, the applicant receives the trade register extract together with the tax and statistical identification numbers, CASNOS or CNAS affiliation and the common identifier. No text sets a separate issuing time for the NIF. Free. The NIF conditions every later tax operation (invoicing, G50, IBS).
Within the 10 working days following the issue of the trade register, register with the appropriate social security fund:
