INAPI, Algerian National Institute of Industrial Property

INAPI (the Algerian National Institute of Industrial Property) is the public body responsible for registering and protecting trademarks, invention patents, industrial designs and models, and appellations of origin in Algeria.

File online through the INAPI portal or in person at the head office in Algiers: form + reproduction of the trademark + list of goods and services (Nice classification) + proof of payment of the fees.

Trademark tax schedule published by INAPI at e-services.inapi.org/markTaxes, read on 31 July 2026: 15 000 DA to file and publish a trademark without a colour claim, 16 000 DA with a colour claim. Each class adds 2 000 DA up to the third class, then 5 000 DA per class beyond. The prior-art search is billed separately: 1 600 DA for an identity search, 3 000 DA for a similarity search over 3 classes.

The trademark is protected from the filing date, through the right of priority attached to it. Official registration then confirms that protection.

A check that the desired trademark has not already been filed and is not likely to be confused with an existing trademark. It surfaces beforehand the earlier marks that can ground an INAPI refusal or a third-party opposition.

Yes. INAPI receives applications for invention patents (20 years of protection) and utility models (10 years). A technical description, claims and sometimes an international search are required.

File an opposition with INAPI within 2 months of publication, or bring an infringement action before the court. A registered trademark is the basis of any action.
