Trade Register Extract in Algeria: how to obtain it, at what price and for how long

The extrait du registre de commerce (trade register extract) is the document that proves the legal existence of a trader or a company. Banks, contracting authorities, government departments and suppliers ask for it at the front of almost every file. This guide explains what it contains, where to obtain it now that decree 26-155 has opened the one-stop shop, how much register acts cost, and how to handle the question of how recent it needs to be.

What the trade register extract contains

The extract is the document issued at the end of registration, then reissued at each amending entry. It carries the unique registration number, the identity of the trader or the corporate name, the address of the registered office, the declared activity or activities and the legal form. It is the administrative identity card of the business.

Since executive decree no. 18-112 of 5 April 2018, published in Official Gazette no. 21 of 11 April 2018, it also carries the electronic trade register code, a graphic symbol containing encrypted data on the trader, printed on the front side at the top right. This code makes it possible to check the authenticity of the document without contacting the CNRC. Our dedicated page sets out how it works (/registre-commerce-electronique-algerie).

The extract is drawn up and signed by the officer (préposé) of the Centre national du registre de commerce (CNRC), whose status is governed by executive decree no. 92-69 of 18 February 1992. It is that signature which gives the document its value: a screenshot of a database is not an extract.

It is worth keeping in mind what the extract does not say. It attests to the registration and to its declared content. It says nothing about the tax position of the business, nor about the filing of its annual accounts, nor about its beneficial owner declaration, nor about its solvency. An active extract is not a compliance certificate.

Who asks you for an extract, and why

The extract is the most universally requested entry document in Algerian business life. The situations in which it is required all look alike: someone needs to check that you exist and that you are authorised to do what you are proposing to do.

  • The bank, when opening a business account and with every financing application.
  • Public and private contracting authorities, in tender application files.
  • Government departments, when processing approvals, authorisations and various registrations.
  • Suppliers, before granting a credit line or opening a customer account.
  • Social security and tax bodies, as a supporting document in affiliation or filing files.
  • Foreign partners and business corridors, for whom the extract is often the only proof of existence that is readable from abroad.

What these requests have in common is that they bear less on the document than on what it allows the requester to check. A contracting authority wants to verify that the declared activity code really covers the service it is buying. A bank wants to verify that the account signatory is indeed the registered manager. An extract carrying an entry that is no longer current fails that check, however genuine the document may be.

Where to obtain a trade register extract

The classic route remains the competent CNRC office, where the officer draws up, signs and issues the extract. It is also where you collect the extract produced following a registration or an amending entry.

The official CNRC portal, sidjilcom.cnrc.dz, brings together the online services of the register: name availability searches, searches in the traders file, consultation of the activity nomenclature, access to the database and a guide to formalities. Access to detailed information requires an account to be created.

A third route opened in 2026. Executive decree no. 26-155 of 14 April 2026, published in Official Gazette no. 31 of 28 April 2026, inserted an article 7 bis into decree 92-69: the representatives of the Centre national du registre de commerce at the guichets uniques (one-stop shops) provided for by law no. 22-18 on investment are empowered to draw up, sign and issue all the acts, papers and documents falling within the prerogatives of the officer.

The scope of this text is wider than it appears. Before it, an investor who had gone through the one-stop shop had to return to a CNRC office to obtain an enforceable act. The decree transfers the entire block of prerogatives, with no restrictive list, to representatives chosen from among CNRC staff, appointed by order of the minister responsible for internal trade and sworn in. It is that status which founds the legal value of the acts they sign.

How much an extract or a register certificate costs

The fees for trade register acts are set by the arrêté of 31 October 2016, published in Official Gazette no. 01 of 4 January 2017.

These amounts are those of the regulatory scale. The CNRC also publishes on sidjilcom.cnrc.dz the schedule actually applied at its counters for registration, amendment and deregistration formalities, which includes other components and therefore shows higher totals. Our pages on amendment (/modification-registre-commerce-algerie) and on deregistration (/radiation-registre-commerce-algerie) set out those amounts formality by formality.

The 800 DA fee covers certificates and certified true copies. It does not cover the cost of an amending entry: asking for an up to date extract after a change first means having that change recorded, which is a separate and more expensive formality.

Extract, duplicata, certificate of existence: do not confuse them

Three documents circulate under similar names and do not answer the same need. Choosing the wrong one costs you a wasted trip.

The most frequent mistake is to ask for a duplicata when an entry has changed. The duplicata reproduces the registration as it is recorded: if the registered manager is no longer in office, the duplicata will still carry the old name. Only the amending entry corrects the register itself.

These various acts all fall within the prerogatives of the CNRC officer listed by decree 92-69, which is why they are issued at the same counter and, since decree 26-155, at the investment one-stop shop as well.

How long does an extract remain valid

This is the most frequently asked question and the only one to which no official source consulted gives a figure. The trade register texts do not set any validity period for the extract. We will therefore not repeat the durations circulating online, since we cannot tie them to any text.

The useful reasoning is a different one. An extract is accurate for as long as the entries it carries match the reality of the business, and it stops being accurate at the precise moment a change occurs. This is not a question of the calendar but of events.

Since law no. 26-12 of 8 June 2026, published in Official Gazette no. 44 of 18 June 2026, this reading has a direct consequence. The new article 4 bis of law 04-08 requires the trader to start the procedures to amend the extract within a maximum of one month from the date of the change. In other words, an extract that has become inaccurate is not merely unusable: it places its holder in breach.

In practice, two habits are enough. On the holder's side, have the register amended within a month of each change, which guarantees that a recent extract is always available. On the requester's side, insist on a recent extract when the stakes justify it, bearing in mind that the freshness required is a matter of their own policy and not of a legal rule.

Checking an extract presented to you

When you are the one receiving an extract, two distinct checks are called for, and they answer two different risks.

The first is the risk of forgery. It is handled by reading the electronic trade register code printed on the extract, using a device with an image capture function. The data returned by the code is compared with the data printed on the document: any divergence betrays tampering.

The second is the risk of information that is no longer current, which reading the code does not detect. A genuine extract issued before a change remains perfectly legible and perfectly wrong. This is why a serious check on a counterparty combines reading the code with asking for a recent extract.

These two checks bear on existence and identity, not on overall compliance. To complete the picture, the counterparty's tax identification number can be checked separately with our verification tool (/verifier-nif-algerie).

Getting your extracts without leaving your desk

For a director, the extract is rarely a subject in itself: it is a missing item in a file that is itself urgent. The practical problem is therefore not knowing where to go, but avoiding the loss of three days doing it at the least convenient moment.

UpGrowth Connect obtains and forwards trade register acts for its clients: extracts, duplicatas, certificates of existence, corporate name certificates. Where the extract requested is no longer accurate, we handle the amending entry directly rather than deliver a document the requester will refuse.

We also carry out counterparty checks for companies contracting with new suppliers or subcontractors, combining the review of the extract, the reading of the RCE code and tax identification checks. The initial diagnostic is free and takes thirty minutes.

Our service commitments apply: a firm quote within 24 hours of the diagnostic, no hidden fees, and a WhatsApp reply within 4 working hours.
