Algerian business public data as an API and an MCP connector

UpGrowth maintains Algerian business public data and serves it two ways: as a REST API for developers, and as an MCP connector for AI assistants. It covers the CNRC activity codes with their status, the ANAE auto-entrepreneur activities, the 58 wilayas, the Journal officiel index and the tables of contents of recent issues, the customs tariff sections and chapters, the legal forms and the CASNOS and IFU 2026 calculators. Three countries are live: Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. The free tier is for AI assistants, through the MCP connector: it needs no key and no sign-in.

What the data covers

Public data only: nothing about customers, leads or individuals. Each answer says which dataset it comes from, under which licence, and the date of the snapshot.

CNRC activity codes

Search the nomenclature by code or by word, in French, Arabic and English. Each code carries its status (free, regulated or blocked) and the address of its page on upgrowth.dz.

Quick start

The base URL is https://www.upgrowth.dz/api/v1. Every route answers a GET request with JSON. Without a key you are on the free tier: nothing to create, nothing to install.

The API is open to every origin (CORS) and sets no cookie, so you can call it from a browser.

1. Search activity codes

The q parameter takes the start of a code or words from the label, in any of the three languages, with or without accents. Leave q out to browse with the other filters.

2. Read one code

The answer sits in an envelope: data holds the content, meta holds the source, the licence, the line to credit, the date of the snapshot and help, the call to action to relay to the user.

3. Run a calculator

The calculators take the same inputs as the pages of the site. The regime parameter is required. The answer gives the base, the rate and the contribution, with the limits of the estimate in data.limitations and a reminder in meta.disclaimer.

The answer envelope

Every successful answer is an object { data, meta }. meta holds dataset, source, source_url, licence, licence_url, attribution, updated and help. Lists add total, limit and offset. When a dataset has no open licence, licence is null and meta.notice says why.

The call to action to relay

meta.help is an object { text, url } in the language you asked for: a short sentence and the link to UpGrowth's contact form. An application or an assistant can relay it as it stands to its user.

Choose the language

Every route and every MCP tool accepts lang: fr, ar or en, fr by default. It sets the language of the texts in the answer: the source, the line to credit, the licence notice and the help line (meta.help).

Rate limit headers

Every successful answer carries X-RateLimit-Limit (the limit for the day), X-RateLimit-Remaining (what is left) and X-UpGrowth-Tier (free, starter, pro, business or enterprise). The limit errors (429) and the unavailable error (503) add Retry-After, in seconds. Counters reset at 00:00 UTC.

With a paid key

Send your key in the Authorization header. A malformed header is refused with a 401 error, never silently ignored.

OpenAPI file

The OpenAPI 3.1 file describes every route, parameter and response. Import it into your HTTP client or your code generator. It and the API index do not count against your limit.

Errors

An error is an object { error: { code, message } } with the matching HTTP status. It is never cached.

Every route answers GET under https://www.upgrowth.dz/api/v1 and accepts lang (fr, ar or en, fr by default). The search routes also accept q (up to 100 characters), limit (1 to 100, 20 by default) and offset (0 to 10,000).

MCP connector for AI assistants

The same data as tools an assistant can call on its own. The server speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP and needs no sign-in on the free tier. A tool call counts as one call, like a REST call; listing the tools does not count.

https://www.upgrowth.dz/mcp

Free tier: 100 calls a day. The counter follows the MCP session when the client sends back the Mcp-Session-Id header that initialize returns, and the IP address otherwise. Counters reset at 00:00 UTC.

Claude

Open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector, give it a name and paste the server URL.

ChatGPT

Turn on developer mode in the connector settings, create a connector and paste the server URL. Menu names change: if a label differs, follow OpenAI's current help page.

What we cannot license

The Journal officiel PDFs and the official titles belong to the Secrétariat général du Gouvernement (joradp.dz). The tables of contents the API returns copy those titles word for word: they are not ours, and no UpGrowth licence covers them.

These are estimates computed from public texts, not tax advice. The rates and rules are our reading of those texts, and no open licence is attached to them.

Is the API free?

There is a free tier, for AI assistants only, served by the MCP connector: summaries, 100 calls a day, with credit to UpGrowth. The counter follows the MCP session, or the IP address. There are no free accounts for individuals. The paid plans are yearly and are requested with the form on this page.

What happens when the free limit is reached?

The API answers a 429 free_quota_exceeded error, with the Retry-After header in seconds. The counter resets at 00:00 UTC. To carry on without waiting, ask for a paid plan.

How much do the paid plans cost?

Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. Tunisia and Morocco cover regions, company creation, tax rates, social contributions and institutions.

Does the API hold customer or personal data?

No. It serves public data only: activity codes, ANAE activities, wilayas, the Journal officiel index and tables of contents, the customs tariff, legal forms and the calculators. No UpGrowth customer or lead data is reachable from it.

Does the customs tariff give duty rates?

No. The API serves the sections and chapters of the nomenclature, without rates. For a rate, the source is the Direction générale des douanes.

Is the text of the Journal officiel available?

No. The API serves the index of issues and, for recent issues, their table of contents: not the text of the issues. The official editions stay on joradp.dz.

Is UpGrowth an official source?

No. UpGrowth is a private firm. It keeps this data up to date from official publications and speaks for no administration. The calculators give an estimate, not tax advice.
