Water sector in Algeria: over DA 697.3 billion in payment credits (2027 finance bill)

What the minister presented

According to Radio Algerienne, the Minister of Water Resources presented the 2027 finance bill (PLF) to the Finance and Budget Committee of the National People's Assembly.

• Payment credits: more than DA 697.3 billion, up 31% on 2026.
• Commitment authorizations: about DA 895 billion, up 141% on 2026.

Mobilizing water resources

Per the dispatch, DA 55.816 billion is set aside for 91 new operations, with 11 operations revalued. Of these, 56 concern wells in 49 wilayas, for over DA 24 billion.

Drinking water, industrial water and irrigation

For drinking and industrial water supply, the programme provides 173 new operations and the revaluation of 36 ongoing ones, for over DA 560 billion. They mainly cover connection works downstream of the new seawater desalination plants in Chlef, Mostaganem and Tlemcen.

For agricultural irrigation, 23 new operations are listed, for over DA 42 billion, including 12 studies on irrigation perimeters.

• 26 reservoir operations: DA 12.2 billion.

Sanitation and environmental protection

The programme lists 90 new operations and the revaluation of 15, for about DA 120 billion, according to the minister as reported by Radio Algerienne.

• Sanitation systems: DA 37.7 billion.
• 19 operations to protect cities and urban areas.
