• DNA/RNA: genomics, pharmacogenomics, gene probes, genetic engineering, sequencing/synthesis / amplification of
• DNA/RNA, profiling of genetic expression and use of anti-sense technology;
• Proteins and other molecules: sequencing/synthesis/engineering of proteins and peptides (including hormones with large molecules); improved methods of administration of drugs with large molecules; proteomics, protein isolation and purification, signalling, cell receptor identification;
• Cell and tissue culture and engineering:
• Tissue engineering (including tissue scaffolding structures and biomedical engineering), cell fusion, vaccine/immune stimulants, embryonic manipulation;
• Process biotechnological techniques: fermentation using bioreactors, biotreatment, biolessiving, biopulping, bioblanchement, biodeulphuration, bioremediation, biofiltration and phytoremediation;
• Gene vectors and DNA: gene therapy, viral vectors;
• Bioinformatics: construction of databases on genomes, protein sequences, modelling of complex biological processes, including systemic biology;
• Nanobiotechnology: application of nano/micromanufacturing tools and processes to build devices to study biosystems, with applications in drug administration, diagnosis etc.

Official procedure, ordering of steps, and realistic timelines

1. Step 1: Choose the right legal form

   The activity "Research and Development in Biotechnology" is free, no prior licence needed. Choose between auto-entrepreneur (ANAE, 5M DZD/year cap for services), sole-trader, single-member LLC (EURL) or LLC (SARL) depending on your project and number of partners.

   Day 1

2. Step 2: CNRC registration

   For SARL/EURL: notarised articles + share capital. For sole trader or auto-entrepreneur: simplified file. In every case, request the company name then the Trade Register extract from CNRC.

   3 to 7 days

3. Step 3: Tax and social registrations

   Tax ID (NIF), social ID (NIS for manager), CNAS affiliation if employees, tax card. You can immediately operate "Research and Development in Biotechnology" in Algeria without any further ministry-level step.
